New Health Campaign Aims to Reduce Diabetes by 30%
National Health Initiative
The Ministry of Health has launched an ambitious nationwide campaign aimed at reducing diabetes prevalence by 30% over the next five years. The campaign, titled "Swastho Bangladesh," will focus on awareness, early detection, and lifestyle modifications.
Free screening camps will be set up in all 64 districts, and mobile health units will reach remote rural areas. The campaign also includes school-based education programs to promote healthy eating and physical activity from an early age.
According to WHO estimates, approximately 13 million adults in Bangladesh are living with diabetes, with many cases undiagnosed.
